Working as a diswasher

The role of dishwasher (astiahuoltaja) is one of the jobs available in food services.

The work mainly involves dishwashing with commercial dishwashers. The work takes place in the kitchens of schools and hospitals. The work involves using various types of commercial dishwashers, such as hood-type and flight-type dishwashers, granule washers and pot washers.

A dishwasher’s job includes the machine washing of dishes, sorting of dishes washed and to be washed as well as the washing of cooking dishes. In addition, the duties may also include collecting tableware from the dining room and cleaning the kitchen and dining room.

Shifts are often part-time and take place at lunchtime between 9:00 and 15:00.
